Step 1: Hold your pallu on your right arm and then gather, shake, and hold your front pleats with your left hand.

Step 2: Slowly sit down on the floor cross-legged.

One method to achieve beautiful hip pleats is to reach under your front pleats, grab the extra fabric, twist and tuck it into your underskirt. This doesn't just create hip pleats but it also ensures that the saree stays taut between the front pleats and the pallu.
