Saree School Lesson 11 | Saree Hacks

Saree School Lesson 11 - How to preserve your lace sarees.

Feed a band-aid, button, or piece of paper through the safety pin before pinning your saree. I used white paper here so that it is easy to see in the video but would recommend using a similar colour to the saree.

Saree School Lesson 10 - Easy hip pleats (method #2).

Grab the leftover fabric between your front pleats and pallu. Gather the fabric upwards and guide it along the hip to create pleats. Pin the gathered pleats to the first layer of the saree and your underskirt or Saree Silhouette. Easy peasy!

Saree School Lesson 9 - Use a bindhi/pottu when pinning delicate fabrics.

Using a bindhi/pottu when pinning will save all of your delicate sarees from safety pins snagging the fabric and getting stuck/creating a tear. You can also use a band-aid, a piece of paper, or a button!

Saree School Lesson 8 - Easy hip pleats (method #1).

One method to achieve beautiful hip pleats is to reach under your front pleats, grab the extra fabric, twist and tuck it into your underskirt. This doesn't just create hip pleats but it also ensures that the saree stays taut between the front pleats and the pallu.

Saree School Lesson 6 - Horsie Kick the pleats into place.

This lesson was coined by my good friend Anna!

Once you’ve taken your pleats, the easiest way to get them aligned is to lightly kick the bottom into place. Especially useful once you’ve staggered the pleats and want to determine if you need to make any adjustments.
